Red car wrecked

Fatal South Louisville Car Accident

December 18, 2015

Earlier this morning, a tragic auto accident in south Louisville left one person deceased. According to WHAS 11, the car wreck occurred shortly before 2 am today, on Cooper Chapel Rd. The report says the vehicle left the roadway after “failing to negotiate a turn.” The vehicle left the road, struck a fence and collided into a tree.

WHAS 11 says that a passerby tried to extract the driver from the vehicle after seeing a fire at the front of the car. Unfortunately, the witness was unable to remove the driver as the fire consumed the vehicle. At this time, it is unclear exactly what caused the accident.

When thinking hypothetically about what can contribute to an accident at a turn in the road, there are several factors that may contribute:

  • Defects in road design
  • Inclement weather or road conditions that decrease traction
  • Driver distractions, fatigue, vision problems, intoxication or other driver-related factors

Tragically, when a vehicle leaves the roadway at a high rate of speed, very serious physical injury and catastrophic vehicle damage can result. In the most tragic cases, like the one that occurred in Louisville this morning, death results from these accidents.
