Shawn Kennedy

Shawn Kennedy spent 17 years in law enforcement before he ever picked up a case file here. Jeffersonville Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Sheriff. Sworn Officer. Detective in the Investigations Division. Hostage Negotiator.

Seven years this September at the Karl Truman Law Office, and he uses all of it.

“They have just experienced a traumatic situation in their life and need to be shown compassion and understanding.” Shawn’s job is the first conversation. He walks people through what representation actually looks like, from hiring the firm to the settlement process. He explains the fee. He tells them a case manager will be assigned. He tells them the hassles and the confusion from the adjusters and the insurance companies are no longer their problem.

He is direct about what to expect. Clients seem to appreciate that more than anything else.

“Our offices are local, right here in Jeffersonville and Louisville, and clients can come see us in person anytime. You cannot do that with a lot of the other firms advertising personal injury in our area.”

Born and raised in Southern Indiana. A graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School, class of 1992, with an Associate degree in General Studies from Ivy Tech Community College. He plans to continue toward a bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Southeast. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus JFK Council 1248.

Shawn is married to Ellen. They have three grown sons, Austin, Noah, and Brody, and two grandchildren. He golfs, and he spends his off time with his boys and his wife.
